About
Liz Huntbach
Director of Amethyst Consultancy Services. Over 30 years in healthcare, in frontline, leadership and improvement roles.

My approach
For more than 30 years, I have worked across healthcare in clinical and operational frontline, leadership and improvement roles, with particular expertise in urgent and emergency care, service improvement, governance and organisational change.
A significant influence on my personal leadership development has been my MSc in Interprofessional Practice (Civil Emergency Management). More than a qualification, it has shaped how I think about leadership, organisations and improvement for the last 15 years.
It taught me to see beyond individual problems and to understand the wider system. To recognise the importance of relationships, communication and collaboration. To appreciate how decisions made in one part of an organisation can affect outcomes elsewhere. And to understand that sustainable improvement requires both structure and adaptability.
This systems-based perspective underpins all of my work. Whether supporting an individual through a leadership transition, helping organisations improve processes and service delivery, facilitating collaborative events, or strengthening governance and compliance, I focus on the connections between people, processes and outcomes.
What drives me
I believe organisations perform at their best when people feel supported, connected and empowered to do meaningful work.
My work is guided by a simple principle:
“When people thrive, work flows more effectively, and outcomes improve.”
Success for me is when:
- Leaders gain confidence and clarity
- Teams communicate and collaborate more effectively
- Processes feel simpler and less frustrating
- Services become safer and higher quality
- People feel safe to speak up, and enjoy their work more
- Patients, clients and service users experience better outcomes
My mission is to create the conditions where people thrive, work flows effectively and outcomes continuously improve.
People I work with
Some pieces of work need more than one pair of hands. These are trusted colleagues I bring in when the work calls for it, each with their own specialism.
Meet the people I work withLet's talk
Every piece of work starts with a conversation: what you're facing, what you'd like to change, and whether I'm the right person to help.
